Purpose

Depths of Aetherium stands for honest, artsitic integrity, and contributing to positivity. For Tom and Zach, art is about paying forward the positivity, support and limitless understanding that they were (and continue to be) gifted by their favourite artists, in getting them to their current positions of psychological contentment.

Without the background-support of the bands that they each love, they would have found it much more difficult to have navigated through the tough times that they've each faced. If they can provide the same support to others who are struggling to overcome their own obstacles, then they will have passed on the invaluable gifts that their favourite artists have given them.

Origins

Zach and Tom both have roots in the Nu-Metal movement of the early 2000s, drawing considerable inspiration from the bands that introduced them to the Metal genre, like Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin and Underoath. They're also heavily influenced by many Metalcore bands that followed over the next 20 years, including Invent Animate, Architects, Imminence, Sleep Token, Bring Me The Horizon, Dayseeker and Northlane. The overall sound they've developed is a distinctive and recognisable blend of Nu Metal and modern Metalcore.

Formation

In April 2021, Tom was searching for the perfect blend of melodic/heavy instrumental-Metalcore to write vocals for, and chanced upon a YouTube channel called White Wolf Music. Tom fell in love with an instrumental on the channel called Cosmos. When he asked in the comments whether he could have a download of the song for the purpose of adding vocals, the composer replied that he would like to work on developing the song with Tom. That composer was, of course, Zach and from that moment, FRVGMENTS (the original band name) was born.

Tom & Zach's first interaction:

Redefine

FRVGMENTS worked as an identity for the band and their sound for the next 18 months or so, but once the band started to get a bit of radio and podcast coverage, it became apparent that, in many people's minds, the intentional flipping of the "A" within the word "fragments" changed its pronunciation, to "frugments"...

So around November 2022, Zach and Tom brainstormed some new names... they considered how their signature aetherially-atmospheric sound could be most-accurately described. It was also suggested that their meaning-enriched lyrics, which often delve into relatively emotional and thought provoking subjects, added a certain metaphorical depth of their sound. As a result, "Depths of Aetherium" was suggested, and they both immediately agreed that that was going to be the new name.

Beyond

Tom and Zach intend to continue releasing singles and EPs as often as possible, in an attempt to fund Depths of Aetherium into profit. Everything they earn from streaming, downloads, digital and physical merch, ad revenues, etc, will go straight back into the project. This will ultimately empower them with the means to release music more frequently, with even better production values than they're currently able to achieve.
